I don't think many people use torrents in here (since there's nothing underneath the torrent box) but I thought I'd help everyone out but showing how to use torrents and their usefulness~
Torrents, also known as bittorrents, are part of an extremely popular peer to peer file distribution system used for transferring large files within a large network of people. You can use torrents to download books, movies, television shows, games, and a whole lot more.
Bright Side:
- torrents are able to download multi-files (say... you wanna download the entire Kuroshitsuji I, which I did and it only took me about.. 2-3 hours AND its in .mkv so I can make it raw and subbed)
- There's no virus being download (unless you go to a fake torrent webby)
- you can download up to as many files as you want (though I would recommend a couple if you're a beginner)
Dark Side (bwhahahah... okay no):
- torrents can take up to days, maybe weeks to download (I once downloaded something that said "__years, __months"; hell, I completely stopped downloading it after I saw it xD)
- obviously, you'll have to wait a bit (I usually wait for a day or two but that's fast compared to downloading one episode by one)
- sometimes, you won't be able to find whatever it is you want without specifics typed in
- you have to be CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET. Without it, the download will either fail or just stop.
- you will also need a program to download these torrents
Now, I bet you're wondering, "Well, how do I make it go faster?". Well, torrents are supplied by "seeders".
Seeders are people who already have the file downloaded and are allowing others to download that file as well.
NOTE: THE MORE SEEDERS YOU HAVE, THE FASTER THE DOWNLOAD AND THE LESS TIME YOU'LL HAVE TO WAIT!! I recommend not downloading anything that has one or less seeders on it.
Then there are "leechers". Leechers are people that share what they also have but are also downloading what you have/what you are currently downloading. This goes back to the seeders but always get high-seeded torrents or else your download will never finish no matter HOW MANY leechers are there.
Torrents, when finished, usually are saved in your Downloads folder although you can change that if you please. Overall, torrents are pretty decent. Though trust me, I didn't even want to use torrents until I realized that I couldn't download all my Kuro. episodes one by one (and not like I was going to anyway) so yeah, torrents helped me a lot.
Animes that I downloaded using Torrents:
Kuroshitsuji, Melancholy of Haruhi, 5 Centimeters per Second, Durarara (this is off the top of my head)Internet experience:
At the end of the day, I use my laptop to also listen to music while I sleep so my torrents are always connected to the internet and when I wake up, most are already done.Websites?: I usually use
http://www.nyaatorrents.org/ though there are multiple anime torrent sites.
Program: There are two that I know of: uTorrent and BitTorrent. I use uTorrent because my friend suggested it since its easier to use and the layout is so simple.
Help?: If you need any help with anything, please don't hesitate to message me on Youtube/here, comment, reply, etc. I know torrents are confusing but I'll try to help with the best of my ability C:
(sorry if I'm not allowed to do this; please delete if it is bothersome ;A;)
